Subject: Conversions and Injectors
Dear list,
What is the conversion from KW to Horsepower?
KW / 0.75
HP x 0.75
And what is the conversion from rear wheel horsepower to flywheel
horsepower?
on a 1600 the loss is between 25% and 30% - the only test session that I
ever saw was at RallyeQuip in Western Sydney who had both engine and chassis
dynos and had run before and after tests, the engines used on the day were
L18SSS BP's and bhp was around 150 to 210 for these (it was in the late
70's) and one 180BSSS with a Jackson engine put 160hp on the road which we
thought at the time was mind blowing - times change eh.
Which brings me to the question...... If I have 196 rear wheel horsepower
and I want to wind up my boost from 7 to 15, put in a decent intercooler and
cam. Will my FJ20 turbo injectors flow enough?????
I don't think so.......
You've got things working very well to be getting those figures @ 7 psi - if
I'm not mistaken that's more HP than any of the production turbos (FJ20
included). FJ injectors are good for 280-300hp so you're just about on full
duty cycle now so this engine must get through some fuel. You'll have to be
very careful in future development but to get this hp out of an L you now
what your doing. Supra, 351, Merc 450 injectors are good for 400+ hp. A
Z18ET stock bottom end is fairly reliable at this hp, but things fall apart
pretty spectacularly over 300 hp in them, so be careful.
regards
Terry (go you L Datto, a timed quarter should be interesting)
Andy.
