One of the common methods is to use a small wedge
of wood that you slide down inside the loop of the timing chain. The
gregories manual has a pretty good description and diagram, I'm sure you could
borrow it from the local library or buy a copy.

ps No 'may fall out about it', it WILL fall
out and require the whole timing cover to come of if you don't secure the chain
tensioner.
