Andy, many years ago, before joining this list and learning all the great tips from the Datsun gurus ;o) I went and bought a 12" Craig Davies fan and thermostat (big $$). Unfortunately it did'nt fit between the radiator and motor. I found however there was just enough space in front of the radiator/ behind the front grill, although it had to be offset from the centreline of the car. Naturally I opted to put it on the manifold side of the engine to blow hot air away from the exhaust and it has performed faultlessly ever since. My 2cents worth.
