Rick,
There are a few different spec 1600SSS and they had different parts again.
The booster was standard for the Japanese domestic model which also had dual
hydraulics. The brake callipers were also different - have you had a look at
your pads, I've got the part number around here somewhere as you can only
use genuine or Nismo and I don't know whether they are still available
(Malcolm will know). Unless they've been changed while in Aus the pads
aren't the angled wedge style, they should look more like a somatome with
retaining pins on top. These were typically changed by ignorant assize
owners who couldn't get the correct pad which was listed in the export parts
supplement and not on the main fiche.
The export spec SSS typically had a single brake master and no booster which
is what Richard is talking about. They all had 3.7 diffs but what isn't
widely known here it that the Aussie spec Deluxe & GL also has a 3.7 but
elsewhere in the world the 1600 diff was 3.9 for manual & auto.
The exhaust manifold is a 4-2-1 style and not 4-1 like the stocker which
accounted for the raspy note.
I agree on the body, the SSS body doesn't rattle and bang like an Aussie
1600, very well used ones are amazing how well they've held up over time -
they don't make em like that any more.
regards
Terry
