Pretty simple idea, the runners are all the same length. 1 & 4 are direct from the front and rear barrels of the DCOE to their respective ports on the head, the inside runners are crossed over so #3 cylinder is fed from the front barrel of the DCOE and #2 is fed from the rear barrel.
