BTW To get RTA approval you have to have 1) the qualification 2) the experience in the trade I thought of getting a job with one of these guys, to get my experience but at the end of the day a certificate is only about $300. So it is not worth the hassle to do your own approvals. I'd love to get involved as a race engineer or <dreaming> test/race driver. There was a sponsorship opportunity a couple of years ago when I was at Uni through Motec, where they would pay you to do research, and perhaps offer you a job at the end.
