I am still having trouble with my timing chain being noisy (L20) I thought
it was oil pressure as it was gone after a oil change but comes back after
5000 k's I have tried shimming the spring for some more pressure and it
still didn't fix it I don't have a gauge in the car but put one on yesterday
to test a new pump. After a few dramas we had 60 psi on idle with a cold
engine the drama was the pump didn't prime so we had to take it out fill it
with oil and turn it over without it firing just on the starter. Anyway so
we had 60 psi on idle at it was increasing with revs (marginally). Anyway
when we had the rocker cover of we noticed that there was guide abit of
slack on one side of the chain ( the side without the tensioner has a
straight guide) and it looks like it has been rubbing up against the dow in
the middle, didn't have time to take the timing cover of but this is the
next step any ideas?? the motor was rebuilt a year ago, and I put a all new
chain, guides and tensioner in, I didn't change the sprockets should I have?
and can I get new ones ? and what does that dow do that is in the middle of
the block inbetween each side of the chain?? sorry for the length.

thanks

Ryan
