Hi Mick,

Hollinger boxes behind FJ's were around in Japan - SSS imported at least one back into Aus behind an FJ that I know off but I don't know what ratios were in them. Hollinger 2 gear sets were available for 240K/Zed boxes many years ago, noisy but very strong and some dirt racers preferred them to option boxes. The car that Mark Skaife won Bathurst in had a Hollinger box (supposedly) but as with the V8 boxes they don't usually have a direct ratio so the gearing problem is a tricky one to work out.

regards
Terry

Mark
I have whats known as the "hollinger 2 gear set"  this only changes the ratios between 2nd and 3rd and eliminates the normal 'jump'. This means that if i'm in 2nd and i change at 7000rpm the rpm's drop to 4300rpm in 3rd. This suits the output of the motor perfectly. Sounds really really good going up thru the gears too

Fifth gear is as per normal  but i haven't a clue about ratios

I didn't know about a 3 gear set.  maybe terry can shed some light for us....again

cheers
Mick

Subject: Gear ratio's

Hi all,

The gearbox in my 1600 is known as a "Hollinger 3-speed" so I have been told. It is actually a five speed box with very close ratios.

Has anyone heard of these before, and also would anyone know the ratio's, particularly 5th gear?

Cheers,

Mark.
