1600 wagons are fully imported and have the Japanese spec brake twin master
cylinder

I've never seen a 1600 column without it (even the spear type)

Prior to sometime around 1970-71 side mirrors were only compulsory on
utilities (centre mirror on a ute was an option.) From 71 drivers side
external mirror was standard, sometime later both side mirrors were
compulsory in Aus. There were some very odd safety regulations back in those
days and you mostly come across them by accident (like arguing with a rego
bloke that had passed your car for the past two years and then there's
something wrong with it), not much has changed I spose, that's arguing with
the RTA I mean.

Probably yellow was all the rage in Japan, there was a motor industry safety
report released in the early 70's that said yellow was the safest colour for
a car, guess what? 50% of new cars sold were all yellow until someone else
said a few years later that red was the safest colour......
