Always better to go new with oil collers. You can never be 100% sure it is clean inside.
If you've just spent $$$$ on a new engine, spend $$ on a new oil cooler so it all stays together.
Second hand engine?, maybe then secondhand oil cooler.

Yeah, I know what you meant, but I was thinking of doing that too,
and I was told not to. There are a few factors, like the different
viscosities of trans fluid and motor oil, and the different pressure from
the engine compared to the trans. The fittings may also be a hassle. But I
wouldn't recommend it.
Just buy a small oil cooler off an old rotary!!!
