Hi Tony, Thanks mate, I was hoping to confirm my suspicions that there may have been a batch of 1600's built in '71 that did not have a body number stamped on the firewall or strut tower etc...
I've had 4 1600's prior to this one, all 3x 10/71 models and a '72, all of which I recall had body numbers on the strut tower. Craig at MadDat Motorsport also confirmed for me his 9/71 has no body number except on the build plate on the p/s strut tower, and some other tag on the top of the drivers side inner guard, which doesn't match the body number :) I'm interested to know what other manufacture dates may be affected by this, if anyone else has encountered this too. ps.
