I have a 72 1600 and have the same deal.. a tag on the RH fender area with
P510 xxxxxxx which
is different to the one stamped into my firewall, which is different to the
one stamped on my
plate on the LH strut tower. when they licensed the FJ they got confused
so they stamped a 5 digit
VIN into the top of the LH strut tower and put a code on the computer to say
that on inspection
check for VIN on LH strut tower top.
