Nup, just pick your engineer before you start and ask him questions.

Yeah, I will. On the bluey sr engineers, they didn't seem to make too much
of a bit deal. Just basically documenting everything. This conversion was
done by someone else, and pretty dodgy as well, so I reckon as long as it is
done properly, and safely, they won't make a big deal. Also, on my side is
the fact I am not doing a turbo conversion, just a srde, so the power to
weight factor won't be a huge problem.

Probably the best thing you could do. Also, get it in writing from him what
he will and will not accept, coz his memory ain't gunna be that great in 18
months time!

Coming along, yes, but not very quick. Still working on the body work.
Just trying to get some food for thought as to what I can get away with. So
I don't have to go back and re-do anything. I might grab this blokes number
off you, and sit down with him and go through all my plans prior to the
build, so he has no problems doing the final report. Think this will be the
way to go.

Probably see you at winton hey??

Hi Greg,

Sounds like your 1600 is coming along well :)

Mine was engineered about 6 months ago, and as far as I know nothing has
changed since then.

Engineered with;

No rear seats (or rear seat belts)
Half roll cage (that is padded)
'Modified suspension, including performance springs and shock-absorbers'
(nothing more specific than this)
No heater core...but does retain the fan for windscreen demisting
Four point race harnesses

The engineer made brief mention of the reversed bend steering drag link and
front cross member saying 'modified to the engineers satisfaction'

My car also has Fixed Back fiber glass front seats, no roof lining, carpet,
door trims or radio. No specific mention of these was made in the report,
this may mean that either a) The engineer 'didn't see them' or b) they are
legal and don't need to be mentioned. I did c) not say anything, so as not
to stir the pot.

I have been meaning to scan and post a copy on my web-site, I *will* get is
done soon :)

Catcha soon, (if I can :))

p.s., a lot comes down to the particular engineer you use, I highly
recommend Geoff Watters. VERY fair and reasonable.
