I was in Townsville from 1992-2001. I lived at the Uni, then Cranbrook, then Annandale. I drove around a blue/green 1600 sedan with 14 alloys. I moved to Brisbane last year. Did you remember from my old emails that I lived in Townsville? I don't remember talking to you while I lived there.

Adam,
The R31 spring is wider than� the 1600 spring. Therefore the� strut top and the spring platform is to wider as well. It is to wide to fit in the place of the narrow 1600 spring. You have two options- 1/ cut the spring platform of and replace with 1600 platform,� 2/place R31 disc and caliper on R30 or Bluebird(?) strut (less work).
I once had R30 struts with R30 ventilated brakes on my car. They were O.K, but I then replaced them with 200B units with comp pads and they broke HARD!! I would drive my 1600 up and down Mt. Buller twice a week and never experienced brake fade. The mountain road goes from 300m to 1550m in 16 km, so it had a steep gradient!!!!
Where abouts in Townsville do you live? I used to live there 97/98, but moved because it was to far from the snow, plus the sticky heat of the wet season was unbearable!!!!!!!!
