Mick, I am thinking of doing the same when I fit the new motor. I am going to try and weld bolts under the manifold which will allow me to attach something under the carbies. It would probably help to have it go towards the head as this would shield the inlet manifold ? I was trying to remember where the standard ones fit on say the 180B SSS twins. I think they just went from where the carbies mounted to the manifold and under the carbies only.
