I did send through the cars I have owned all expept one have been imports(Escort Van). The down side initially was getting parts for models not originally in NZ but that soon changed when wreckers & service yards there was a buck to be made from importing wrecks for parts.
In some ways it was the best thing to happen to our car market as we are supposedly one of the cheapest places to buy cars & you can get all sorts of performance cars that were never available perviously. I had never thought I could buy 323 4WD turbo or Legacy RS. The down side to that is new cars take a hiding on resale value. The dealers were initially making a real killing importing them but quite a few have gone to the wall over the last few years.
