it's not the size of the carb that is important. it's the venturi or choke size. as far as i know you roughly choose the choke size and then select the carb that the choke fits in.

you'll probably be looking at 36 or 38 mm chokes and i'm sure that either 40 or 45 mm dcoe carbs will offer no performance difference.

it's a catch saying "i've got twin 45s" - where 40s do the same job.
