Dave,

I actually have two FJ's that I rotate in my race car, this way I'm never
without an engine. Up until now, I have been running standard internals,
with webbers and exhaust. Due to plans for the next engine (big
horsepower/big $$$) I have limited the amount of money I wanted to spend
this time round.

As such, I have had Phil do a full head service, port the head, and replace
the valve springs with heavier items. The cams are still standard, as the
cams we intend to use for the next engine will require high compression
forged pistons etc. which means of course, you do the whole lot in one hit.
(Crank, rods, cams, pistons etc etc). Plus we will also be running quad
throttle body injection, with either Autronic or Motec management.

I rang about 5 different places before I decided to go to Phil. The prices
varied from $800-$1200. I did call Graeme, but can't remember what he quoted
(sorry). A friend of mine put me onto Phil, who is a friend of his family.
As such, Phil is charging me less than $800. Most shops also said to allow
7-10 days turn around time (actually so did Phil!).

Let me know how you get on, but I am sure Graeme is a pretty professional
guy.

Cheers,

Mark.
