Fergy,

This is the reason I am attempting to make the airbox. I have been told,
that the majority of the air that enters the ram tubes actually is drawn
along the outside edge, and not from directly in front of the opening. If
this is true, then placing "socks" on the Ram tubes should be detrimental to
performance. This must have some validity, as I believe most (if not all)
super tourers use an airbox, with exposed Ram tubes. On top of this, when
the car is on the dyno it is tuned without the air filters, surely, placing
the air filters on after setting the air/fuel ratio must also be
detrimental - possibly cause the car to run a little richer by restricting
the air flow?

I plan to build an airbox to enclose the trumpets, and then attach a Ram Pod
(off my old WRX) to the front. this will allow me to place the filter in a
position to maximise cold air intake also.

I'll keep you up to date.

Mark.
