Bob,

The hardest part to get would be the pedal assembly but I'm sure you can locate
one easily enough. Once you do, it's just a matter of pulling the auto pedal
box out and bolting the manual one in. I would say at the most outrageous
you'd get slugged $200 for one. Maybe someone on the list has one or knows
where to get one?

You can use practically any Datsun master & slave cylinders, = pretty cheap.
Of course then you need a manual gearbox! The only other thing to do is modify
the wiring loom to defeat the built in protection against starting in drive
etc.. pretty simple.

Hope this helps!

Subject: Auto to manual conversion - 260z

Hello All,

How involved is the conversion from an auto to a manual for a
260/240z? What sort of price can all the parts be sourced for to do
the conversion? I recall someone saying that they were a fan of buying
an auto and converting it to a manual as they generally havent been
driven on the door handles as bad, is it worth the effort/cost? Asking
because of this ad in the trading post:

DATSUN 260Z 1976 silver coupe 2.6L, 78000kms, rare 2 seat auto model,
suit restoration, sell unreg'd, service history, matching No's, 309FDC,
fair condition, $3000 negotiable WATTLE GROVE 02-9731 1859

Sounds like the kind of car for me. Any help much appreciated.
