Bob, Paddy ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) on the list has a auto 260z 2+2 and a manual 2+2 tailshaft that I gave him... he might measure both for you if you ask nicely :) The ratio's should be 3.54 for the auto and 3.7 for a manual, though sometimes they've already been changed during the life of the car, for example the car I had was fitted with a 3.7 R200. If you want to get it launching really hard look for a 4.6 or something from the front of a 4WD 720 ute. The tunnel should be bigger in an auto than a manual, you can get brand new spigot bushes from Repco for $6.25, and a manual flywheel/clutch/box will then bolt straight on!
- Tom PS But then after spending hundreds to convert the stocky L26, wouldn't you really like to get a auto RB25DET instead? :) -----Original Message----- From: Bob [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, 14 February 2002 4:22 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: Re[2]: Auto to manual conversion - 260z Hello Thomas, Are the auto and manual tailshafts the same? Will the whole flywheel/clutch assembly just bolt straight on? Will that whole thing about the spigot bearing be a problem? Any clearance problems between the autos and manuals transmission tunnels? The whole wiring thing shouldnt be a problem for me. What about diff ratios? After seeing recent discussion it would seem that I could locate a speedo drive to compensate.
