My plan was always to add ballast... but nearly 200kg is a bit much I think
I also have a 15 kg lead bar here... so all I need is another 11 or 12 of them You can see from the size of just one of those bars that another 11 of those is going to be an awful BIG pile... 975kg is more than an EXA weighs from the factory! Maybe I need a bigger car :) Or if I replace all the alloy sheet with steel sheet and get the cage made from mild steel instead of chrome-mag... that will bring it up 50 to 100kg (and probably save me heaps of money too I guess) Though I wanted to use the chrome-mag (680+MPa) for the cage (you can use it but you have to have it homologated) as it's stronger than chrome moly (650MPa) and Mild Steel (350MPa)... damm rules :) cya James Zac Campbell wrote: > hey James you gotta make it as light as you can anyway, and tehn use some > ballast in the middle of the car, F1 style!! > I think they use tungsten - anyone got any lying around? :) > I have 15kg of lead you can have! :D > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: James Fitness <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: membersozdat <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2002 5:18 PM > Subject: New CAMS Rules for Sports sedans > > > Hi All > > > > Just got my new CAMS Manual today.. and read some > > not so good news for those with SR20DET's and FJ20DET's etc > > in their Datto sports sedans... > > There is now a new Racing weight Minimum of 975kg > > We have been bumped into the 3.5 to 4.5l class > > There is a new rule - > > over 1500cc turbo with more then 2 valves per > > cylinder= multiply engine capacity by 1.3 > > This added to the old and still standing rule of > > multiply by 1.7 for turbos means > > 2.0L x 1.3 x 1.7 = 4.42L > > > > I have rung cams and the verified that both multiplication factors > > are to be applied. > > > > So much for the 750 - 800kg monster I was building - 975 is a real kick > > in the you know what's - that's like having 3 or 4 extra people my size > > in > > the car :( > > > > Now if I was running a Z20ET - with only 2 valves I can drop off the > > x1.3 > > so 2.0L x 1.7 = 3.4L with falls into the 900kg class > > > > So now I have to figure if an extra cam and 2 more valves per cylinder > > is better > > than a 75kg weight saving... > > What do you think?? > > > > cya > > James > > > > > > -- > > ________________________________________________________________________ > > > > James Fitness > > Director > > Data Scribe Australia Pty Ltd > > http://www.datascribe.com.au > > Computers and Supplies > > > > OZDAT Online > > http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm > > > > > > > -- ________________________________________________________________________ James Fitness Director Data Scribe Australia Pty Ltd http://www.datascribe.com.au Computers and Supplies OZDAT Online http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
