Has the Bluebird got a tandem mastercylinder. If so It pays to bleed the back brakes 
first. LR first
followed by RR. The LF & last RF.

I had struck a similar problem on my 1600. Don't know why this should make a 
difference but I think
sometimes the master cylinder doesn't prime properly if you don't bleed rear brakes 
before front.
