I am about to get a Vicroads permit for an unregistered 1600 and need to
provide a body number. Can someone please advise which number I give as I
have discovered the following:
1. Above the firewall in the middle of the car, just below the wiper grill
in the engine bay, there is a plate pop rivitted which states a body number
6 digits long, there is no body number stamped directly into the body of the
car as has been with previous models I have owned.
2. On the passenger side strut tower there is another metal plate which has
the same body number as the middle plate above.
3. On the drivers side near where the front guard is mounted to the body of
the car, inside the engine bay there is a number P510M and 4 more digits.

Is number 3 above the body number, because in all other datsuns I have owned
the P510 number is stamped into the body on the firewall bit and not down
near the front guard. I have no number stamped directly into the body on
the firewall bit just the metal plate.

Should I just give the number which is on both the plates and not worry
about the P51 number? Could the P510 number be a chasis number as opposed
to a body number.

Sorry it is so long, and thanks in advance for any help.
Lochie
