Rick,

Thanks for the explanation. I won't be putting spacers anywhere near my car.
The reasoning behind my original question re their legality was because on
my commowhore the wheel nuts are about 15mm long so the thread pokes thru
the end when tightened. So therefore spacers would fit and the nut would
have the full effect, but as you say the stress would sheer the bolt due to
the load being placed further along the thread.

Just out of curiosity, what wheel/tyre combination do you have and what were
the pirellis worth? I realise how important tyres are, it's just that most
guys seem to tear rear tyres apart like there's no tomorrow. Maybe go for
ultra sticky on the front to keep the car pointed in the right direction and
a little cheaper tyres on the rear?

thanks again for the explanation and pictures(I think you should become a
graphic designer:)

cheers,
Adam

boolted to a flat disk that has slotted holesthe rim and the spacer(disk)
will sit together but they normally slip of the hub making the studs bend
and then some times sheer.

individually built to fit your purpose not just be a flat disk with holes in
them.
