Mark, Yes they are identical to L series. I still like you idea for making one though. I prefer plasticine for its ductility and ease of shaping although I find it lacking at speeds exceeding 25 rpm as the gear tends to grow. If the corresponding sprocket is made of a correspondingly less ductile plasticine (due to the increased diameter) the proportional growth of this upper sprocket should be the same as the lower sprocket with the chain acting as a growth limiting member. The cost of the refrigeration plant for chilling the plasticine is still high on the prototype model but we are working on that. It may be that the ice proves to be a better solution long term though. The refrigeration plant is mandatory for both methods.
