I had to make up a bracket that shifted the linkage into the centre of the car about 50mm, but I also had to shift it forward. If you are just going across you should just be able to redrill the holes.
I have just chucked this setup in favour of a cable one that goes straight to the throttle shafts on my SUs, it is far more direct and gives a much more sensitive pedal.
I had to modify the end of the pedal to fit the cable, weld a cable quadrant onto the throttle shaft and make up a bracket to hold the other end of the cable casing. All up it cost me about $10 for the cable and quadrant (wrecker prices), all the rest was made up from scrap lying around.

my problem isn't that the bracket needs to be further out from the firewall, it needs to be shifted across further towards the passenger side. i.e. my old carby was smaller and closer to the head than the weber.
I have an extended bar to go from the first link (near the fusebox)across the firewall and to the other link which will then have to be moved over on the firewall by about an inch to meet up.
It is hard to explain but i was just curious whether i would be better off drilling some new holes in my firewall or to get a cable setup. is the cable setup difficult to setup? how much would it set me back?
