Chris Replacement lower out skin for rear guards can be purchased from the 1600 Workshop for $150 each side -on the trade list on the Ozdat website. Beaver panels were rare in the early 1980's so you may be battling to find a new one. Rally guys could never keep them intact, particularly if the spare wheel well was removed.
An option for the adventurous. If you want to convert your rusty damaged back end to an eighties style club rally car, weld a flat floor in the boot from LH outer guard to RH outer guard and remove every thing below the floor except stiffening braces on which the bumper bar is attached. This modification takes out the most commonly rusted/damaged rear panels and gives heaps more ground clearance for those steep creek bed exits. The rugged rear end look grows on you. Imagine this scene all on display to the poor driver behind that thought he may just blast past. The exposed R200 diff housing and those unbreakable drive shafts looking very purposeful. A pair of red rear springs and some fat yellow Bilsteins gas shockers leering out of the rear suspension. A 3" exhaust squeezed through the rear subframe to show the car has real mumbo at the other end. Fat rear wheels and top rubber on display. The muffler used to look a bit daggy, but now we have a sexy, polished stainless one on full display. What other car could show everyone so much of where the money has been spent? (Sorry listers got a bit carried away on this one!) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Simpson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, 23 June 2002 19:47 PM Subject: rear ends > > > Listers > > please dont get the wrong idea about the title to this post!! > > I have just cut the rear beaver panel out of my datto and im wondering if > there is anywhere you can get new panels for them?
