I tried my luck once, I took pictures of street luge (where they lie on their backs and fly down big hills). I had an old fully manual Pentax with some 400 film. I set the shutter speed to 1000th of a second and snapped them as thy went past right in front of me... I was surprised how good they came out... ofcourse they were going about 80k/h cars are going a lot faster sometimes ;)
Here's one of the shots: http://members.dodo.com.au/~pop79/LUGE3.JPG These things look and sound awesome as they thunder past. I also have a shot of one guy stopping himself... they sit up and put their feet down... and they leave big skid marks and smoke billows off!
