We removed the dizzy only and got the rest, including water pump and clutch for $70.We only took the carb because we thought 10 bucks was worth spending to avoid having to remove those pollution pipe infested manifolds in the rain! Why get a Stanza 1600? My son says the big ends take chev big end bolts which are stronger when used in high revving applications. We also took the attached stumpy 5 speed(including the still attached gear knob!) as it the car was obviously well looked after. It also had a brand new starter motor (now ours), and a newly recoed radiator filled with good green coolant. When removing the engine I noticed that the Stanza has a cable from the accelerator pedal to the shaft on the firewall that operates the carb butterfly, Is this cable system easily fitted to a Datsun 1600? I didn't have time to look at the inside of the car to check what happens at the pedal end - it was pissing rain and we wanted to get our bits and go. AsideOutside we were loading our bits into the trailer and a bloke parked next to us was stuffing an interesting looking gearbox into the boot of a Celica. I asked him if it was a Supra box. Answer? yes, and it cost $100. The bloke works for a rival wrecker nearby, specialising in Toyotas, and said they sell these boxes for $600. You can really find bargain bits at Pick a Part, if you know what your looking for and are lucky to be there at the right time - good bits move fast. Sorry its a long one. I'm on holidays - been skiing all day - and my (old) legs are absolutely stuffed. I'm feeling better relaxing at the computer, but breathing an overwhelming stench of BO from my thermal underwear - off to the shower. --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
