If its a minor (or even a major) ding on the front guard, take it off and
straighten it yourself. Front guards are very light guage metal and most
bends can be unbent by hand by reversing the impact forces that bent it,
with perhaps a very light hammer along any remnant crease to flatten it.
(Use a rounded metal or wooden dolly underneath and a flat LIGHT hammer on
the creased side). Often you wont need to use bog if the dent isn't too
complex.

If its a fairly solid blow that has dinted in round the headlight hight area
you probably need to tap it from behind and this can get difficult without
some rudimentary devices to get into the area to be beaten out

Seal the underside and use body filler to smooth out any remaining
imperfections on the outside. Rub back with wet sand paper until its shape
is perfect, then spray undercoat over the sanded area. Take it to the
painter for finishing.

I learnt this after I bought a replacement front guard for a bent one. When
I took off the bent one, which was dinted at the top of the wheel arch, I
tried my hand at repairing it and was amazed that what seemed like a total
loss was restored to perfect shape by hand bending and a small amount of
hammering around the wheel arch. I put it back on the car as the
replacement I bought was not as rust free.
