adjustment
Bob,
First be sure the striker plate(which bolts to the B pillar) is
not worn too much, if it is its very hard to get the door to shut properly,
and when it does it will rattle. You can tell by looking at the groove which
locates the door of it is oval or noticeably marked it wont work
well. This seems to be the main problem,it is possible to build it up
with weld and refinish it but you can find a good spare from the rear
doors of a 1600, or on an early pick-up as they are the same as a Z and seem
to get less wear and tear as the doors are lighter and used less (depending on
the car). Assuming everythings ok, loosen the bolts and make sure the
orig. shims are still there then tighten them so you can just move things with
your hands and close the door slowly, this should give you a base to work
from, also be sure the doors mechanism is tight and has a little grease to
help it out. I hope that helps,
Dan
