Mark, Usually best to replace the cylinder - With a FJ20 most times they have a remote reservoir hooked up but depending on what inlet manifold your FJ has then not always. If your reservoir is detachable from the cylinder body (whether remote or not) then it's a Japanese type eg Tokico, Nabco or Sankyo and they're off a 240K, C210 Skyline, 180BSSS (imported), 200BSSS and some other models. If it's just a plain old PBR then they're off nearly everything Aussie built. There is one thing to look for though and that's where in relation to the cylinder your hydraulic line attaches as there are a couple of alternate points. Stanza, 180B, 200B, Bluebird PBR cylinders are all much the same and suitable for a 1600, you may have to adjust the rod from the pedal into the back of the cylinder to get the engage point back to what you are used to.
Repco are a good source for most Datsun hydraulic cylinders, definitely not the cheapest retail but trade if you can get it is useful. regards Terry -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Mark Sent: Sunday, 11 August 2002 6:52 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: clutch master cylinder check the firewall for leaks everyone said, hmm nothing there top her up and see what happens...what's this tell-tale glistening on the floor mats, oh clutch fluid all down the clutch pedal. I guess pull it out and get the seals/piston from the clutch pedal lever side recond or is it usual to just replace the it all? no idea what it my off, the car is a 1600 FJ20T R32 g/box and some HD sports 'puck' clutch.
