Should the rear X member be seam welded? I can see why it is done, but could
you get away with it not being done?

My only recommendation would be to have your xmember (if you modify it
yourself) exhaust hole enlarged, take it to an engineer and have them plasma
cut the hole to 4" rather than use a hole saw, as a large daim. capable of
cutting through will be more expensive and time consuming.
