That reminds me of a story. (Tune out now of not interested). I heard a story going round the sprite club about a sprite that had a 'steel bottom end'. Apparently these guys bought this motor with the aforementioned steel crank and rods and fitted the engine to their race sprite. They then proceded to give it an absolute thrashing for a few seasons. It reputedly revved higher and ran better than their previous engine and they were quite impressed with their ' steel bottom end' After a long while the thing finally let go, and they pulled it down to dicover a standard bottom end!!!!!
