Just thought I would let you know that I have sorted the problem out -
I took to the shaft with a dremel and a cutting wheel, cut an ammount
required out of the middle section, cut some locating sections into
each half so they fitted together with a sleeve over the top to hold
it all together, and then took to it with epoxy. It looks ok, and
seems like it should work well.
