The handles connect to a threaded wire with a plastic nut on it, to adjust
the lever throw. These wires may still be attached to the door catch
mechanisms, which they operate by the plastic nut pushing on a lever.

The wires are attached to the door handles by pushing the bent right angles
through the captive plastic o rings in the door handle levers.
