The handles connect to a threaded wire with a plastic nut on it, to adjust the lever throw. These wires may still be attached to the door catch mechanisms, which they operate by the plastic nut pushing on a lever.
The wires are attached to the door handles by pushing the bent right angles through the captive plastic o rings in the door handle levers. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Webb" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, 22 August 2002 12:38 PM Subject: door handles - how they work > Sorry about all the questions recently... but the pannel beater who painted > my car has taken the door handles off, I have absolutly no idea how they > work.... > > do the back ones just directly pull that metal thing insde which opens the > door? or are they attached to something? > > and with the front there has to be a piece of wire going from the handle to > the opening mechanism, doest there? what should I use like an old coat > hanger? > > anyway any help would be appreciated! > > Richard > > --membersozdat------------------------------------------------------- OZDAT Mailing List Please Note:- Send (un)subscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send submissions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] No unauthorised redistribution of this email http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/index.htm http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/listindex.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------
