hi, you can get
high volume , low pressure which operates at 10 psi at the gun ( you call
them hvlp spray guns).
and you can also get compliant or
hte (which stands for high transfer efficiency) spray guns. such as
the sata RP (reduced pressure) or the devillbis gti . these two
operate at 2 bar or 29 psi.
the compliant (hte) guns
give a better finish as far as i`m concernd.
the hlvp can tend to give a
more orange peeled finished. to make use of these guns , you really should
really have large diameter air hose and a large compressor.
however if your talking about using a normal
standard spraygun, and spray at a too higher pressure ( greater
than about 55 to 60 psi) you will have alot of over
spray and dry spray, and loss of shine and sandy textured finish.
at a too low pressure you will get
heavy orange peel and runs, but a great shine!!!.
with a normal spray gun i personally use about
40 to 50 psi depending on weather temperature .
