Funny you said that cos I had this happen to me yesterday, I was checking all drivelines and assumed that it was gearbox, It happened to be 2 loose wheel nuts, luckly I picked it up before they fell off. Probably not your problem but anyway.
I also got a problem at high revs kinda like a knocking sound....
