becuase there's only about 6-7 different locknut keys for each design, they
probably just have on of each.

I remember trying my locknut key on a few mates cars, fitted 2 of the 3 cars
I tried it on, I just got rid of my locknuts after that, they're more of an
annoyance when changing tyres than anything actually usefull

hi, also if you get a socket that will just sorta nearly go over the
middle bit, then bash it on with a hammer then use a rachet to take the
nut of, my friend done this a couple of times..

btw, how come i have bought a few cars in to get tyres fitted and then
realized when i go to pick it up that i forgot to give them the lock nut
thingy , and the tyres are already on? how did they get them off?

2 or 3 swift hits of the chisel puts enough of a groove in the nut for you
to just undo it like a flathead screwdriver

little know how and very crude tools

i have locking nuts on my wheels (i also used them on my old TRX
rims)....there is no easy way of getting them off without the key...bout the
only thing you could do, is bring a welder along and weld something to the
nut so you could turn it

i think mine cost $25 from my local rare spares

That’s the darned thing. And what do you guys know about locking nuts. I
just remembered that the guy said he didn’t give me the locking nuts
because he had to use them on his 1200 (ute, very nice looking car btw).
Are these actually secure or just a gimmick? The bloke at the tyre shop
said they were about 25 bucks… And I take it there will be nuts to suit
or will I have a hard time finding some?

Oh and does anyone have an idea for a suitable cap to cover that bolt
that covers the wheel bearings? (Ie the centre bolt on the strut setup,
the name escapes me)

James,

A TRX rim is 15x5.5" with nearly 4.75" backspace, I don't know what the
exact offset is without working it out but it's around 1" at a guess.
The wheel nuts are the same as 200SX and Bluebird LX mags.

regards
Terry
