If the shocks a the slightest bit leaky, get ready to mop the shed floor. The extra pressure will exploit any leaks. Have you welded a thread and are using a bolt as a filler?
If you want your car lower, a few mates of mine are experimenting with VW shocks, which are shorter and stops the problem of the standard Bluebird shock from bottoming out when you lower the car. (They have also cut the strut...) But hey, they are cheap and plentiful!
