I studied the first year of Electronic Engineering and I do recall learning
a bit about insulation breakdown voltage.  Every insulator has a certain
voltage where it will breakdown and allow electricity to flow...  thats what
the spark is that jumps through the air.  So the voltage of the spark
depends on the resistance of the air?  Does more compressed air have a
higher resistance due to heat or density?

    THE SPARK WILL USE ONLY THE REQUIRED AMOUNT OF VOLTAGE REQUIRED TO
IGNITE THE CUMBUSTED MIXTURE.

This means that if your plugs, leads and other spark carying components are
in good condition the spark may draw say 25kV.  That is even if you have a
'wam bam extra high voltage U beaut 60 000 volt coil you will staill only
require a 25 000V spark.  The only need for high voltage spark is 1. if the
combustion gas requires it (ie high compression performance engine) or 2. of
you have dodgy ignition components.  A 60 000 Volt coil/ignition module does
not give a 60 000 V spark.  Two spark plugs fired together does not give a
higher spark potential on the firing cylinder.
