Cam,   If you are going to pay full price, incase this doesn’t come off, don’t invest 1700 dollars into a Canon digi camera. I suggest you put your money behind a Nikon Coolpix camera, I have one (Coolpix 990). It retailed for about 2 grand a year ago and is supurb for action and still shots (I ride BMX/take BMX photos). Nikon also have a wide range of aftermarket gear which is top notch, and by the way, Nikon is the world leader in SLRs, so these cameras are obviously of a pretty alright standard.
