Stock Z22 is actually 87x92 for 2389cc but yea can go to 89 or even 90mm for an easy medium-block 2.4 litre with a Z24 crank (which must be ground to fit the Z22 block in the same manner as to fit an L20b block)  Much less risky than trying to take an L20b to 89mm.

Z20S blocks are supposed to be better than Z20E blocks as they have siamesed cylinder walls, but as for how far they can go i wouldn't know.  I do have a junk Z20E block I could slice up to find out though :)

The Z22 block is a different casting that can be taken out to 89mm easily with plenty of meat left in the bores. A Z20 would be close to water then I would think?

Subject: Z series blocks

I've just been looking at the specs for a few different Z series bits and pieces and noticed that the Z20 and Z22 blocks appear to be the same, they're the same deckheight, but the Z20 is 85mm bore and the Z22 is 88mm bore ..... is the Z22 block just a bored out Z20 block? is it safe to take a Z20 block out that far? has anyone ever tried this?

Dave
