Title: Sick L16

My L16 with twin SUs but otherwise standard has a miss at high load/revs. Anything over about 3500 revs will cause a really bad misfire. I played with it for hours last night, resetting everything I could think of and its still there. I can get it to rev past there to about 5k now, but its not happy at all. I have put in a new condensor and points, tried a different coil, a new set of leads, a different set of plugs and its still there. Could it be caused by the dissy cap? I have a spare one and will try it tonight.

I did a compression test and that came up fine.

Would a blocked air cleaner cause this? Other than that, how could the carbs be causing this sort of behaviour. I reset the floats and the idle mixtures.

The only other thing I was thinking was to reset the tappets, but I didnt have a feeler gauge last night?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry about the long email, but I'm stumped.
