Any
subaru built pre-WRX (Mid 90's) I wouldn't touch.. IMO they are
SHITE....
As you
know, the engine crapped out, I see so many of these things that bang and clang
coz they've got a bung motor, the lifters get sloppy in them and make a hell of
a noise. The trim comes apart inside them.. I dunno ay, $1000 might be too much
or it might be a good price. Depends on what you're gunna do with it. If you're
gunna paddock bash or rally it then go for it, if you want a reliable car then
think about it...
As
always, size *DOES* matter.. :) The bigger the better.

I am just wondering what a
Subaru Leoni RX is like. A mate brought one about 5 years ago for $6500 i
think. He now wants to sell it. Its an 85 model with the EA 82 1.8L turbo
engine , 5 speed box (front wd & 4wd, but not constant 4wd). The gearbox
& clutch is shagged (been like that for about 3 years now), a cv joint is
rooted and the tyres are flat. The car body is straight, no rust, interior is
good (king of chequred flag pattern) but the paint is oxidized. The engine is
an import that was put in about 6 months before the gearbox shit itself. The
car is stock, hasnt been messed with, except for the import engine swap, (the
original engine shit a head and was going to cost more to fix than the import
engine). Its been sitting in his mums shed for the past 3 years an now that
hes a family man, wants to get rid of it. He has offered me 2nd dibs on the
car at the price of $1000.
Are these cars worth it?
The turbo on it is a pisser too. So small.... Does size
matter????
