Hi, I -REALLY- need some help with an electrical problem in my mate's 1600! Heres the story - sorry its so long! We bought some new and more powerful inner headlights and wired them in with a relay, 25amp wire and a 20 amp fuse.. The low beam still runs off the stock wiring, but i have used the wires that used to run between the inners and outers as the trigger for the high beam relay.. It didn't work quite as expected - all four headlights came on instead of just the outers when the headlights were turned on. We had a drive around the block like this and the lights worked great, but it was getting late so i took off one of the trigger wires to the relay and taped it up so it wouldn't short while he drove home. He went to start the car up to drive home and there wasn't enough power to turn it over! It was late so i push started him and he got home, but today he tried another battery and it still won't turn over! Another very weird thing is that when he turns the key to 'ON' or while he is trying to get the thing to start the outer lights come on really dimmly, even though the headlight switch is off! Now i'm not the greatest with electrical stuff but i wired up the same relay for high beams in my old 1600 and it worked fine! Can anyone help me sort this out? Any suggestions would be great, Thanks Mark.
