Title: Message
John/Terry, thanks for the help.

I had a look today, and yes things were a little sad.

Bout 6 months ago I went to resurect the SSS cause the wagon had trouble, it was midnight when I finally got her to start.
She had been in the shed for well over 18 months.

The coolant had crystalized, never seen  or heard of that happening, anyhows I flushed her out, removed the main hoses and the thermostat, removed the crud ran her for a while flushed the water out and drove her home, About a week later I flushed the coolant out again and she seemed to be going quite well all this time.

I had never in the time I owned her needed the heater till this month.
Damm it is cold at the moment!
Heater doesn't work, thought the tap was shagged, anyhow the main problem was the coolant in the heater hose was still crystalized all the way through the core, tap and all the heater hoses.
I replaced the hoses today, used the cordless drill to clear the tap inlet and outlet, the outlet and inlet hoses into the block and the head and flushed the heater core out.
Hooked everything up again, and I'll be dammed, I have heat, lovely heat.

Took me just over 4 hours, but I must say it has to be the best modification I have done to any car I have ever owned.
Got to love heat!!
Anyhow, it was nothing too serious.

Thanks for your advice.
Rick White.

Subject: 1600 Heater questions

Hi there all, does any of you know which way the water goes through the heater core on a 1600??

Out the block under the spark plugs and through the tap and out the other side, into the rear of the head? or through the other side and out the tap?

The reason I ask is I blew the hose that comes out on the passenger side of the car on Saturday night.

Water went everywhere, I know the heater was on, but I didn't think of turning the tap of, to see if it stopped the water flow, I just cut the broken bit off, and streached the hose back and clamped it into place.

The reaso for my questions is my heater does not work, I think the tap is opening enough to flow water, there is a core in there, but it does not get warm, would the heater core be clogged up or do you think the tap is just not opening enough?

Thanks.
Rick White.
