Hi Rick and Jimmy etc,

Sorry for the late reply on this - I was at a conference all last week.

When I was looking at getting my car done, I would have thought $4g
tops would have done it, but it seems the story is quite different in
reality. At the same time I got mine done, a knowledgable friend got his
job quoted extensively. He had done all prep - all that was required
was final touchup and the actual spray - he paid $4g for the work, and
this was in acrylic.

$10g does sound excessive, but at the same time the quote appears to
be quite thorough (including whole body sand blasting etc). I would
approach him with an aim of what result you were envisaging and an
idea of what you can afford, and see if a mutual agreement can be
negotiated - this is what I did and worked out well, with me doing pretty
much all nonspecialist work, leaving more money for the panelbeater
to do stuff which will directly affect the end result.

Experiences I have heard about that have resulted in nice jobs have
been in the $6g ballpark. Someone else who may give some info is
David Andrews who is currently going through the process of getting
his 1600 done.
