rack and pinion requires turning the t/c rods round so they point rearwards instead fwd and also new mounting points. also need lots of work to the column to get it to work with the 240z rack which fits best.

yep, i had to pull the whole assembly out of the car. which you should do anyway as you most likely have a speer steering column like me which is not good. I am going to upgrade to a 180b box and 200b column, shroud and stalks etc

this might sound a bit obvious but did u undo the 4 bolts under the dash & the bolts on the fire wall ?

hi,  does any body  know the following:

 

how do u take the steering colum out of a 1600??????

the outer tube is  pressed/welded into the  flange , that has  3 bolts holding  it on the steering box.i undid the 3 bolts , and it wont come out..

and the  steering shaft that runs down the middle goes right into the box.........

i took the  plate of which  holds the adjusting screw, still i couldnt  remove it...

 

what am i doing wrong??

surley u dont have to remove the steering box???
